4 Signs you should see a therapist
Should I see a therapist? Many people have asked themselves that question for a long time before they finally decided to seek therapy.
Going to therapy doesn’t make you weak or crazy, it makes you courageous! The truth is everyone deals with their own issues or challenges regardless if it pertains to us or not. Therapy can assist with managing anxiety, stress, anger and ultimately allow us to live happier lives.
Here are 4 signs you should consider seeing a therapist:
Do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed or stressed? Often times we find ourselves struggling to maintain our normal routine, maintaining our work load and simply doing the things we love because they all become too much to handle. Many people struggle with anxiety and depression daily but that doesn’t mean you have to go through it alone. Allowing yourself to see a therapist during this time of need can be a game changer because it allows you to learn effective coping skills and learn how to positively communicate your needs or wants to others in your life.
Change is inevitable but it also can be stressful. Whether you are a newlywed, just had a baby, graduated college, bought a home, lost your job, went through a divorce or experienced a death in the family- the transition can cause a significant amount of stress and anxiety. When seeing a therapist you will receive support as you adjust to the life transitions which will allow you to cope with the change in a more positive way. Therapists will assist you in understanding what to expect while going through the life transition and assist you in embracing this new phase of your life.
If you’re worried that you will burden your family or friends with what you’re going through or perhaps you don’t have a support system, you may want to consider seeing a therapist. Having a therapist allows you to be given unbiased support from a neutral person when discussing your challenges at work and home. Therapists remain objective to each situation which allows you to think clearly and rationally.
Therapy has many benefits, you don’t have to have something “wrong” to see a therapist. Therapists can provide you with the tools you may need to change your behaviors, thoughts or limiting beliefs that may be holding you back from pure happiness.
I truly believe everyone can benefit from seeing a therapist.
